Alan March’s Family History

This site is a work-in-progress. There is a massive amount to cover. I have included both male and female lines, and some go back many generations. Keep coming back for more.
I have numbered the generations working backwards from Alan’s as (1)

 EARLY DENNISES (10)

We have traced the Dennises in the March ancestry back to James Dennis, who married Barbara Framingham in the cathedral city of Norwich in 1734, but brought up his family in the village of Runton on the north Norfolk coast.

Mermen on Holy Trinity, Runton[1]

This couple are part of an online family tree for Justin Michael Lee. [2]

One version of the tree goes back just one more generation, while another takes it back three. Starting with James and Barabara he has:

James Dennis (1692-1755) and Barbara Framingham (1715-1765)
Robert Dennis (1660-1729) and Elizabeth Holland (1672-1726)
James Dennis (1630-1676) and Elizabeth Amis ((1635-?)
John Tennison Dennis (1600-1683) and Elizabeth Howlett (1610-1684)

The tree gives names and dates, but not places.

We have verified the marriage of James Dennis and Barbara Framingham, which took place in Norwich in 1734, and their burials in Runton.

We have found no baptism for Barbara.

There is a baptism in Norwich in 1692 for James Dennis, but he is the son of Jonathan and Helen Dennis, not Robert and Elizabeth.

For the older generations, we have found none of these baptism, marriages or burials. They may be in sources which are not yet online.

With the oldest, John Tennison Dennis, it is not clear whether Tennison is a middle name, which would be unusual at this period, or a version of the Dennis surname.

It would be interesting to know the sources for this genealogy, and the parishes where these events took place.
