Alan March’s Family History

This site is a work-in-progress. There is a massive amount to cover. I have included both male and female lines, and some go back many generations. Keep coming back for more.
I have numbered the generations working backwards from Alan’s as (1)

THOMAS HARDY and MARY WILSON (8)

THOMAS HARDY married in Horbling and brought up his family there. We have been unable to find a plausible baptism for him in or around Horbling.
The date of his marriage would lead us to expect a birth date in the late 1720s or early 1730s. The only Hardys having children in Horbling around that time were Joseph Hardy and Bridget Carleton, with baptisms from 1715 to 1722.
He is believed to have been born in Horbling around 1725, the son of Joseph Hardy and Bridget Carleton, whose names are reflected in his children. Thomas called two of his children Joseph and Bridget. This is an uncommon pairing of names, and it is a near certainty that Thomas was their youngest child, born around 1725.
Horbling lies on the edge of the Lincolnshire Fens, between Grantham and Boston.
Thomas came from a farming family and became a grazier, raising cattle or sheep for market.

MARY WILSON. Mary Wilson is a common name. She was of Horbling when she married, but we have found no baptism for her there.
John Wilson witnessed her marriage, and could be a brother. There are baptisms in nearby Folkingham for children of Thomas and Hannah Wilson, John in 1730 and Mary in 1737. But this would make her only 18 at the time of her wedding.
There is another in Scredingham in 1733 for Mary, daughter of William Wilson, which would make her 22. There is no mention of John among her siblings.
We do not have enough information to be certain.
